Is blogging dead in 2020

Yes Blogging is still worth it but a lot of things have changed over the years and since things are not the same

Below are a few tips you should consider if you want to drive traffic to your website

1. Master Content Marketing

There is a common saying that content is king, Content marketing is a strategic marketing approach focused on creating and distributing valuable, relevant, and consistent content to attract and retain a clearly defined audience — and, ultimately, to drive profitable customer action.

There are billions of blogs on the web and each of them targets particular keywords to rank, Google’s algorithm has changed drastically Google is interested in ranking blogs with fresh content with a good user experience

So to get your blog posts to rank on the front page of Google you need to say goodbye to copy-and-paste blogging and embrace the skill of writing fresh articles that will get ranked

Blogging consistently is another key ranking factor as stated by some SEO experts like Neil Patel and Bryan Dean (The founder of Backlinko)

Google tends to rank blogs that publish content consistently because they have better value to offer to users, you can not be blogging once a month and expect Google to rank your content especially when it comes to very competitive keywords

lastly, frequently update your contents and trash out irrelevant (old) posts that may provide no value to users hence this tells google loves ranking contents that usually gets updated as soon as possible

2. Use Infographics

According to Wikipedia, infographics are graphic visual representations of information, data, or knowledge intended to present information quickly and clearly.

They can improve cognition by utilizing graphics to enhance the human visual system’s ability to see patterns and trends.

In simple terms, info-graphics is usually a pie chat or any graphical representation of information like the life cycle of a housefly (science students can relate)

Nowadays there is too much information in written format on the web, Google is highly interested in info-graphics content in that way Google sees your content as valuable

Not everybody is a text-based reader so your blog posts don’t have to be full of text because it will create a bad user experience and they are going to feel bored on your website

Also include videos that help get your message across to your audience, doing all of this is going to make your content amazing and there is a high tendency for you to get more  social shares and more people to link to you

If you want to learn how to use info-graphics then probably you should consider the following tools to create infographics for your posts

  • Canva
  • Venngage
  • Piktochart

3. Blogging in 2024 is About Story Telling

Just as I explained in my above point, blogging nowadays is about storytelling and what I mean is by writing in such a way your audience will feel you are writing a story and not just some random content,

you should use active words that will keep them reading and willing to read more.

Cultivating the habit of storytelling is essential by using words like ‘you and I’, ‘We’, and ‘Us’, hence its creates a feeling of eye-to-eye discussion with your audience

Everyone loves stories and most especially when it involves real-life situations and not fiction, a memorable blog post must be fun to read. Storytelling helps you hit the mark.

Learn how to use storytelling in your blog post, A good opening story entices blog visitors to read your blog post.

When readers recognize the problem the story’s hero is struggling with, they become eager to read your tips and learn how to solve that problem

4. Build An Email List / Push Notification

Digital marketers can not do without email marketing, it is a vital strategy for people who wish to advertise and sell their products and services as the saying goes “the money is in the list”

An email list is another good way to keep your blog visitors constantly coming from your blog, all you have to do is sign up with any Autoresponder such as Getresponse or MailChimp,

so you will collect emails from visitors on your blog and send them emails whenever you have products to sell

You can also use push notifications if you can’t afford autoresponder maybe if you don’t have products to sell but you want to have your visitors keep visiting your site

A push notification is a message that pops up on a mobile device. App publishers can send them at any time; users don’t have to be in the app or using their devices to receive them.

They can do a lot of things; for example, they can show the latest sports scores, get a user to take any action, such as downloading a coupon or let a user know about an event, such as a flash sale.

I use one signal push notification for this site because I find it easier to use and it doesn’t cost anything online Autoresponder

5. Share Your Contents On Social Networks

The aim of writing great content is to make them reach a large audience, of course, you can not sorely depend on Search engines for your traffic because you may not get the desired traffic you wish for

Traditionally people depended on text-based content but the blogosphere has evolved now, people love to watch videos, and some prefer to listen to audio information, your blog content should be published everywhere

Go to medium and publish your content, do the same thing on Instagram and Twitter and in that way, you will explore your content to have a larger audience

Nowadays People spend time watching videos on YouTube which is another great social network to drive traffic, I have constantly seen a lot of bloggers driving massive traffic from Pinterest by sharing their content there

If you follow all these tips I have explained here you will come to believe that blogging is not dead but still works and it is worth it to start blogging.

6. Utilize Telegram

Nowadays, due to Facebook and Twitter Ads limit with Adsense, Bloggers are moving away from these social platforms and adopting Telegram to promote blog content for traffic.

I know a friend of mine who makes about $30 to $60 daily with just 1,500 page views with the help of Telegram he gets more Ad clicks even with a few page views.

How To Use Telegram to Increase Adsense Revenue

Below are some of the steps to follow if you want to adopt Telegram for your blog

  • Create a Telegram Channel or group (for best results, use a Telegram Channel and make it public)
  • Add members to the telegram channel, the more members you have the more likely you get good results
  • Link your Telegram channel at the beginning of each of your blog posts so that visitors to your blog can click and join. You can also promote your Telegram channel via WhatsApp TV
  • Now that you have gotten enough Telegram members, start sharing some of your blog articles to your Telegram channel.
  • You can choose to share 2-3 articles by morning when CPC is high and 2 articles again in the evening
  • For best results, your content must be informative and able to solve people’s problems

Warning!!

Sharing too many links in your telegram channel will look overwhelming and members may decide to leave the channel and it will be a huge loss on your end
